Concern for Community

Through our community giving, Linden Hills Co-op is commited to building healthy and sustainable neighborhoods and organizations.

Annual Contributions

Cooperatives are principled businesses. Principle #7 is concern for community. What that means is that as a cooperative we strive every day to work for the sustainable development of our neighborhood and community through policies accepted by the ownership.

Change Matters Program
We will be launching this program at Linden Hills Co-op in January 2018.

Our Change Matters program makes it easy for shoppers to help local community-enrichment organizations by making small-change donations at the registers that add up to meaningful contributions.

Organizations interested in being recipients of our Change Matters program can find the proposal guidelines posted on our websites in early October. Proposals to participate in the 2018 calendar year are due October 20, 2017. Contact outreach@wedge.coop with questions.

A committee of Linden Hills and Wedge Co-op staff will select 12 groups to be the recipient of 1 month of donations during the 2018 calendar year.

Community Donations

The Wedge and Linden Hills Co-ops supports community events with donations in the form of $25-$50 gift cards. These can be used as prizes, silent auction items or to purchase food for the event. We do not donate food or deli items. Requests must be made at least two weeks prior to the event. Community donations are allocated on the first and third Monday of each month.

We give preference to organizations and events whose mission relates to cooperatives, environmental sustainability, food, or agriculture. In addition, we give preference to other organizations and events that serve or benefit communities served by our co-ops. Non-profit (501c3) status is preferred but not required. Organizations are eligible for one donation per year.

Please use our contact page to send your request. Select “donation request” from the drop down menu and include the following information:

Name and contact information (email and/or phone number)

Organization name, website, email, phone number, and address

Event date(s)*

Brief description of event and who it benefits

How Linden Hills Co-op will be acknowledged

Bag Credits

When you bring your own reusable bag to the co-op, you can choose to donate 5¢ to support our Co-op Affordability Project, a program designed to reduce the cost barriers of healthful eating by providing a 10% needs-based discount for those who qualify. You also have the option of receiving a 5¢ credit for each bag taken off your bill.

Partnerships
We cultivate relationships with local growers, producers, educators, food justice advocates and change-makers for
a more sustainable world. We show our commitment to these communities through the support of our many local partners such as Minneapolis Public School True Food Taste Test, Co-op Farm Tour and more.
