Long Range Planning
In January, 1983 at our next general membership meeting, the coop will begin discussing a question that will become the most important question in our existence--because it is about our existence. What are our long range plans? And where will we be to carry them out? Our lease is up at our present location in June, 1984. We need to immediately discuss whether or not we want to remain in our present location. If not, what are our options? Do we like the direction our store is heading? What are our most important future considerations? These questions must be addressed soon, and we need every member's help to work toward solutions.
Alternatives to our present site include purchasing a home or looking at the Lake Harriet school building. All co-op members are urged to attend the general meeting on January 17, 1983 to take part in a more detailed discussion of this problem.
January, 1983 Membership Meeting
Make a note on your calendar to come to the January membership meeting held on the 17th at 7:30 at the Friends Meeting House, 44th and York Ave South. The crucial discussion on long-range plans means that we need your input. Sure, it will be cold, but the meeting house is warm and we'll be serving refreshments as an added incentive for you to attend.
In addition to taking care of business, coming to the general meeting will give you an opportunity to meet other members and gain some insight into the workings of the co-op. So please come--and thanks for cooperating.
Good Places to Eat
Last November, Bruce and I lunched at the new Chevron Cafe, 1516 E. Lake Street, on level 3 of the Antiques Minnesota Center. Terry, one of the original Goodness Shows Deli persons, who is now one of the owners of this new restaurant, told us that they had been working on the place since last August and had just opened the previous week.
It was a chilly day, so I started with a cup of hot cider, 50¢, while Bruce had coffee, 40¢. Our friendly and efficient waitress was ready with refills whenever we needed them. I had lasagna ($4.25; $4.75 with Italian sausage), which included a piece about a 3" square, and a spinach/cabbage salad with vinegar and oil dressing, while Bruce had soy loaf ($4.25) including both a salad and a baked potato. The helpings were large enough so we didn't order dessert, though the cheesecake looked yummy ($1.60).
The Chevron is a great place to lunch before or after browsing through the antiques on the first two floors. As this is written in November, their hours are 10-4 Monday through Saturday; Sunday Brunch 12-4; but they are closed Tuesdays. Their phone number is 729-3760, and they also do catering.
